I read somewhere that on average each person gets 5 mutations in their DNA. If mutations were mainly harmful then we would all be dead or dying. In reality most mutations are neither beneficial or harmful. Mutations dont coraspond to switching functions on and off. They only change the proteins produced and usually slight modifications will still work. Computer code is a lot more volitile. Changing a single bit in program code could change an entire instruction. Computers can suffer division by zeroerrors, infinite loops and memory access errors, all of which call an immediate crash. |
