Why would the structure of DNA change. It still contains four bases that pair up in unique patterns to code for protein production. That there are changes in this code, mutations, copy-errors, every-so-often would cause the formation of proteins whose bonding, twists and turns (structural changes) may have a different effect than the original, or may not. That these changes may not effect the mechanisms an organism (on the cellular level) relys upon to continue the normal functions of life; then againthey may lead to novel ways to cope. |
