“The fact is that it been shown to be a constant for 170,000 years.” But again, this is reading into the evidence a historical explanation that cannot be observed. Placing a constant into a physical phenomenon has been popular with geologists and geochemists since Lyell, and indeed, this seems to have carried over into astronomy. But, as simply as I can put it, *who* was observing this assumed constant some hypothetical 170,000 years ago? |
